Fruška gora,
home of our wines
With its soil characteristics and heterogeny, its location, closeness of the Danube, exposure, and ecosystem, Fruška gora provides the uniqueness and terroir of the local wines.
Fruška gora represents one of the European wine regions with a considerable historical significance. The tradition of cultivating the grapevine and creating wine has started to a greater extent in the Roman Empire in the third century AD. Due to its exceptional and unusual geological past, Fruška gora, an island in the Pannonian Sea, represents an extraordinary location for the cultivation of grapevine.

MALVASIA ISTRIANA
Located in the mild basin, the vineyard spreads on two slopes towards the center; the slight field depression, in relation to its surroundings, the greenery, and the exposure have influenced the creation of micro-climate in this range. This helps regulate the temperature and prevents the freezing of the vines. This is how we succeed in growing this variety exclusively in this vineyard, Istrian Malvasia, a Mediterranean vine, has found suitable cultivation conditions.
The first vines were planted on this range in 1957. In 2007 the old vineyard was expanded, and grafts of the same grapevine that has grown here for 50 years and adapted to the unique terrain were planted. Malvasia that is cultivated in this vineyard is a plant that has found a micro-region at a latitude far greater than it is used to. And it is still able to provide the varietal aroma with the addition of Fruška gora terroir.

The entirety of the Grašac White plantation is located on a slope that has north-east exposure, oriented at full length towards the Danube. The plantation is located on a steep slope, with an elevation of 150 to 175 m. The location of this vineyard allows for extremely favorable conditions, airflow, and sun exposure as well as the regulation of the temperature due to the river valley. Exposure to the Danube that produces the “two suns effect”, a reflection of sunbeams on the river surface, contributes to the quality of grapes cultivated at this location.
